So we popped in to see Jacques Cousteau at his Marine Park on Pigeon Island here on the coast of Guadeloupe, but he wasn't at home. We had an interesting sail down, first 15 kts of funnel effect leaving Deshaies, then down to 2 kts half way, followed by 28 kts two minutes later and we're screaming along at 9.7 kts.

The snorkelling is pretty good, nearly bumped into a turtle just off the boat, but he was more interested in chomping the sea grass than me.
We were anchored just off the mainland, so took the dinghy over to Pigeon Island and tied up to one of the dive boat moorings. There are half a dozen dive companies here constantly shuttling strange black clad shapes over and back. The water is so clear you really don't need to dive, and some of the best bits are very shallow anyway.
