Reaching Cape

The four day window of good weather that was forecast for our Durban to Cape
Town passage was spot on and we enjoyed beautiful blue sunny skies and calm
seas. The winds were slightly less than ideal but with four knots of the
Aghulus current pushing us along we couldn't complain. It was not to last
though, as we approached the Cape of Good Hope the wind and seas picked up
and we had a very uncomfortable final 12 hours. As we rounded the Cape the
wind suddenly dropped and we enveloped in thick fog, the air temperature
also dropped considerably. WE had left the Indian Ocean and now in the South
Atlantic.

As we approached the harbour the visibility was zero, very eerie when you
can hear all the the sounds of a busy working port around you but can't see
anything!

We dropped anchor and waited for the fog to lift a bit before attempting to
get into the marina.

The marina is in a fantastic position, in the middle of the V & A waterfront
in Cape Town, the tourist centre. Surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars
and with the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain. It's all very safe and
convenient.

After a couple of days to tidy up after our passage we took the boat round
to another marina where she was hauled out of the water ready for her annual
maintenance of cleaning, sanding and re anti fouling.

We rented an apartment close to the yard so that Harvey could oversee the
work and we enjoyed the space and convenience of living in modern flat in
the City centre.

Yesterday friends from the UK, Di and Paul arrived to stay with us on the
boat and we'll explore Cape Town with them. Then we are going home for our
nieces wedding on December 15th.

We'll return to South Africa with the girls for Xmas in the sun.
