Arrived in the San Blas islands yesterday lunchtime. We had an uneventful sail over, taking just under two days and accompanied into the islands by three dolphins riding our bow wave.

The islands are idyllic, much as we had imagined. We are anchored in the archipelago of the Coco Bandero Cays on the east of the San Blas, a group of extremely scenic islands situated behind a four mile protective reef barrier.

This group of islands are uninhabited, with pure white sandy beaches, towering palm trees, and crystal clear waters. The reef makes for great snorkelling.

The local people, the Kuna’s live on the bigger islands but come every day in their dug out canoes to sell their wares – Local produce, especially lobsters, fish and fruit/veg. They are surprisingly commercial considering the primitive conditions they live in, and are very happy to relieve you of a few dollars!

Last night we had fresh lobster, expertly prepared by Declan and cooked on the BBQ.

There are two other Oysters in this anchorage and tonight we are all going to have a beach BBQ of lobster and tuna.
