We have had problems with the Satellite comms. I am now suspecting it may be connected to the McAfee virus software I loaded up before we left for Madeira. I have adjusted the settings so hope this works next time around.

Despite the weather Pat, Norman and myself made it to Madeira on 21 Jan. After a night in Machico it was down to the boat yard and sort out RT. She was in fine form and was placed back in the water 15 15 hrs. Two hours later we were entering Funchal marina. It was a bit full but we managed to find a place bow to. That gave us a problem getting on and off the boat. It was a great spectacle for every one passing by to see us swinging off the rope ladder. Pat was particularly good at drawing and audience. We sorted out lots of jobs and did our shopping on 23 Jan and plan to head south early tomorrow 24 Jan.

Well 24 Jan was fine and we set sail at 08 15, I managed to get out of the tight mooring next to the Sunseeker without drama. Norm was impressed. So was I actually, things could have gone horribly wrong.

The next problem was, no or little wind. I was hoping that this would be temporary matter but proved to be a problem over the next day and half requiring use of the engine from time to time to move things along. At least the sun was shining.

The engine finally came off at 17.50 on the second day as the wind finally arrived on the port rear quarter. Beautiful sailing through the night and still blowing now at midday on day three 26 Jan. Passed close to the aptly named Salvage Islands in the nigjht. We have about 64 miles to run to Las Palmas in Gran Canaria.Should be seeing Pico de Teidi (3718m) on nearby Tenerife soon.If the wind holds up we should be anchoring up in Las Palmas in the early hours 27 Jan.

We are now in Las Palmas Gran Canaria. Peder has arrived and Pat just left for a few days around the island with Cheryl and Dudley who by chance are holidaying here. We are trying to sort out sat comms so watch this space. Still got lots of jobs to do and provisioning.
