Our position at 12 00 on 24 June is 38:11.7N 042:24.9W . We have about 670 nm to run to Horta in the Azores and we have completed 128 nm in the last day. Ten full days completed.

June 23 - After a night and a morning where the wind sorted itself out we are off again with a promise of good progress today. The wind which was on the nose is now moving to the south and giving us a reach and later a broad reach that is the wind coming from the starboard rear quarter. The sea state is relatively calm and there is little to no swell.

Norm has been looking forward to a peaceful night of sailing and all looked well for the evening. In fact apart from a little flurry of activity which involved popping a reef in the main the night was peaceful with progress in the upper 4s and lower 5s kts.

June 24 – Another nice sunny day with a wind of about 12 kts. With all reefs out we are making lower 5s on a broad reach. The 699 nm mark was reached at 06 38.

The forecast for the next day is more of the same but we will be getting an update at midday. Conditions have held up, its relatively warm but skies are back to their more normal overcast.
We have the forecast now and all looks good for the next three days. Dangerous to predict but provided the wind is not compromised by local effects we should be in the Azores within the next 5/6 days.

We are aiming for the island of Faial on which Horta is the located. On the way there (about 120nm before) we will pass close to the island of Flores
