The sea state had calmed following our passage up to Marigot Bay but the wind strength was still there. No squalls though. The passage to Martinique was quick speeds of 6.5  - 7.5kts most of the way. We tied up to a mooring in Petit d’Arlet. Two reefs in the main sail and a heavily reeefed head sail.

Very French, French cars, drive on the right, the the boulangerie, euros, etc.

We didn’t sign in at Immigration and Customs and cleared off early the next day heading for Dominica, a passage of 51 miles. Again high winds and speeds of 6.5 – 7.5 kts. Sails as on the previous day.

We like Dominica. Its simple yet beautiful, probably the closest place one can get to paradise assuming you don’t like mega resort hotels, you like simple beach hotels, bush walking, snorkelling or diving.

Today we went to Soufriere in the south west of Dominica. The bay is a flooded caldera and a marine reserve, no anchoring, so no yatchies. Also the obligatory hot springs to soak in up in the hills and on the beach.
