After a bit of a slog between Islands we made the 120 nautical miles passage to St Lucia from Les Saintes Guadeloupe in 20 hours and are now on the anchorage in Rodney Bay. The journey was a mixture of strong winds and squalls between the islands and flukey no winds down the lee side of the islands so winds varied from nothing to 36 knots - all in a days passage! Interspersed we did manage some good sailing hitting 9 knots on several occasions. Just before we left Jolly Harbour we found a 5 inch green lizard stowing away somewhere in our mast. That did explain the great excitement shown a few days previously by several Caribbean Grackle birds perching on our shrouds and conversing in their distinctive way.

Some of you may have noticed we made a very quick detour via Newfoundland, this was all about me re-acquiring blog formatting on our position reports. We don't have good internet connection at the moment so we will post pictures when we do (there will be none from Newfoundland).

The watermaker is now working but our big engine for the dinghy isn't (essential for long trips from the Rodney Bay anchorage). We will be on finish line duty for the ARC tomorrow and 8 boats are expected during our watch.
