Heading North

Rosinis heads to Svalbard

We’re in Tromso again after some delayed flights yesterday, so it was quite late before we got back.  We’re also a new crew, so welcome on board to Meryon and Giles.  At a personal level I’ve just had a wonderful few days at home with all the family.

This morning we woke to bright sunshine, some blue sky and a light breeze from a roughly southerly direction. As we’re heading north that’s all good news.  It’s not as warm as UK (but where is right now?) but pretty good for almost 70N.  Rosinis is now all ready to go again, and we just need to get fresh provisions, clear customs, and will then be on our way by early afternoon.  Our departure point for Svalbard is Torsvag, which is a further 45nm through islands and in quite sheltered water.  Then it’s 600nm almost due north with just one possible stop at Bjornoya (Bear Island), which is approximately half way.  So blog updates may be a little less frequent while we’re out at sea, but if there’s anything of real interest to report we’ll do so.
