Ho,ho,ho and a bottle of rum! We have arrived after about 3000 miles which has taken 29 days .Liz says my beard makes me look 10 years older and I feel 15 years older....result.
The last 48 hours have been pretty eventful. In the middle of the night before last with the wind gusting 30 knots the steering failed. The link to the autohelm sheared and blocked hand steering. We jury rigged steering and then that miracle man George fashioned a repair.....What a relief! All because we had an excess of hubris with 150 miles to go. We also had a tear of the genoa which we splinted by putting a few rolls on the curler.strong winds and squalls kept life interesting . It was a great relief to make landfall and wonderful welcome from all our supporters who joined us for the last mile.Tears could be seen in your sea hardened blogger eyes.....probably the strong sunlight.
If anyone has actually read any of this.......thank you for your tolerance.
Probably a while before my next trip. Thank you to my shipmates, skipper Rory, handyman and raconteur grasshopper George.
I will send some pictures .yes even the shy Brenda, tomorrow.
