Yesterday we covered 115 miles in 24 hrs. But mostly motorsailing. Today we managed 2 hrs with the cruising Shute at a reasonable rate but back with engine again now. Still, warm and sunny, things could be worse!
The Skippers responsibilities have been extended to opening the wine in the evening and applying phosphoric acid to the heads...life is never dull!
In Mindelo the senior crew was led astray by the young "boy". I was introduced to a " depth charge ," Super bock and red vermouth , very nice too! Each one better than the one before.
After strolling around the town we eventually had a meal quite near the marina .Not bad but I don't think I would travel so many thousand miles to get there.
As we returned to the boat we struck up a cheery conversation with a couple of ladies,I was a little miffed as George appeared to be getting all the attention when, blow me down ,they suggested we repaired to a little hotel just round the corner.George, being rather sharp, suddenly recognised they were ladies of the night and that we probably couldn't afford them.....I must get out a little more.
Looking forward to half way.
