Closing in on Fiji now with 240 nm to run. Unfortunately the wind has deserted us. A forecast 15 kt SE is dropping to around 8kts at times. We have been motor sailing for the last 16 hrs and it looks as if we have some more motoring yet. We had a mishap with the main last night, when the left over slop had the boom crashing from side to side. We ended up with a significant vertical rip along the luff of the sail which was very disappointing. In hindsight it would have been better to have rolled up the sail at night rather than tried to motor sail and gain a more steady motion. Luckily it should be a relatively easy repair to make. We should reach Navula Passage at first light Monday, and then we will get to Lautoka to clear, and then back to Denerau to get the sail off the boat and to a sailmaker.
Temperatures are now quite warm. Sea temp is 27.2 and its 25degrees in the boat.
