We sailed across Bligh Water from Viti Levu this morning arriving at Yadua about 4 hours later. The crossing was notable for 2 things. The first was the fishing. We caught 2 small tuna - skipjack and a yellowfin and were gearing up for more when we had a huge strike on the lure.Whatever it was, it pulled the line completely off the spool and then broke it. So at least we can talk about the one that got away. The second was the entry to the bay. According to the charts we went straight across the southern reef as we came in. A good reminder not to rely too much on charts.
The south easterly is showing signs of abating, but we are told to expect more wind here out off the lee of Viti Levu. We will stay here for a few days then go westward to the northern Yasawas. Thats no hardship because the beach we are anchored off is one of those white sand, coconut palm tree lined beaches you see in the movies. And there isn't a soul in sight.
Dinner will be the yellow fin with chips, I'll do the dishes and then try and read for a while. Then I will give up and go to bed by 9. Its very tiring doing nothing.
