Day 2 to St Helena

Mid way through our second day to St Helena and all is very well.

We set out in to 35knots of wind with 45knot gusts, at 8-9knots boat speed and wind behind that was a big blow. Rhumb Runner handled it comfortably.

Before our first set of night watches we saw a humpback whale breaching up ahead, we had to adjust course by 20degs to avoid getting too close. It continued to breach as we passed alongside. We left it breaching off our stern and sailed on. An amazing sight!

Now the wind is down to 15knots, still over the port quarter (southerly). The sea has calmed right downed to large rolling swell from the south. Very little cloud above, the sun is very hot, but the breeze cool.
