Christmas Island turned out to be a special place. Nowhere in the world can you see land crabs like those on the island. The locals from Auz were very friendly and our bike hire turned into car hire to make our provisioning easier. We used the Red Crab Surf shack.
We had also expected the anchorage to be rolly but the buoys were fine when we were there.
We then sailed the 500 mile to Cocos Keeling to be greeted with 35knt winds & heavy rain. We managed to get ashore for a few hours on Home Island which was very quiet as it was a Sunday. Apart from a swim around the boat with the fish & black tip reef sharks there was not much more to do. So, after one day we set off again. We've been going for 5 days now & have been averaging 180 mile days with is really good. Each day the air is getting cooler & soon we may need extra sheets on the bed!!!
