Tonga & onwards

We sailed into Tonga & really enjoyed the change. The islands were all low lying in comparison with the Society Islands. The max height being around 140mtrs. Many of the islands have sea caves. We swam into Swallows Cave & Mariners. Mariners took some finding but it was worth it. The entrance was 2 mtrs down & a 3mtr swim in. Inside the light and the pounding of the swell was very memorable.

We also managed a couple of dives with a local company who took us through many underwater swim throughs. Not so many sharks but some new sealife including a large Napoleon Wrase in the distance.

We went looking for the humpback whales as the locals were not doing commercial trips yet. We saw them in the distance but they were gone when sailed back that way. A shame as swimming with them would have been a highlight.

Tonga has been & gone & now we're on route to Tanna in the kingdon of Vanuatu. Tanna has "the worlds most accessible volcano". This should be good. Also in Vanuatu we may get to see the locals jump off their towers with a vine around their leg. An early form of bungy jumping :-)

Expect to get to Tanna around the 1st July.
