No wind & motoring last 500 miles to Hiva Oa

2 days from Hiva Oa. There's not enough wind to sail above 2.5knts so we are motoring & have been for 2 days. The forecast looks like we will motor all the way there.

The lack of wind makes the sea calmer & we have been stopping for swims which has been really refreshing. It's currently 34.4'C below during the day. When we swam yesterday there was as shoal of fish under the boat! 500 miles from anywhere with 4000 mtrs of sea & we have a shoal of fish. Amazing. We also found that the bottom of the boat was covered with sea squirts. Not as bad as barnacles but like a forest of 3 cm long white jelly fish type tentacles hanging down below the boat. A lot of scraping and a thousand or so homeless sea squirts :-)

We've had a few fish on the line & had a nice Tuna meal the other day. We also saw a pod of pilot whales go by today, but generally there has not been a lot of sea life. More in the Atlantic, I think.

All is well on board and we've just finished our last fresh tomatoe & cucumber. The only remaining fresh food is onions & oranges.

Looking forward to a cold beer when we arrive as we've been tea-total since we left (apart from Champagne with Neptune).
