As we got close to land Marga checked out her flights to New York to get back to work & it worked out best to stop in El Hierro. We arrived early on 5th. She jumped ship & made it back to work in just before her 2 week holiday ran out. Result.
Stuart, Phoebe & I spent a day ashore before heading off at 0700 on the 6th.

We set off knowing that the wind had been blowing up to 30knts in the night. This was due to the acceleration zone on the East of El Hierro. The zone lasted for around 16 miles, so 2 hours of our journey. Then the wind settled before dying out. As we approached Tenerife the wind increased and then stayed between 30 & 40kts for a good few hours as we went past the south of the island & it's acceleration zone. Finally it abated & we ended up motoring again. At 19.00 we anchored outside the marina in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

Rhumb Runner will get a good few weeks rest here before heading back to the UK.
