We motor sailed from Nai Yang to Patong Beach in just a couple of hours and arrived to find a good anchorage close to the beach, but amidst the chaos of tourists on jet skis and parasailing. Dadang took the kids into the beach as soon as we arrived and we had some lunch on the boat and went for a swim. With so much water activity we thought it was best to stay on the boat to ensure everything was OK. We joined the kids for dinner and a wander around the streets of Patong, including the infamous girly bar street - it makes Kings Cross look a little boring and quiet. Sam and Sophie stayed at a hotel for just $29 a night and we met them for breakfast the next morning. There was a storm during the night and a couple of boats drifted off their anchors into the beach - the boys had to secure the dinghy on the side during the night as it filled with rain. When we awoke in the morning the stench of raw sewerage was overwhelming - a reflection of Patong in general. So thankfully the kids had had enough of Patong and we left at midday for Kata Beach.
