41:12.10N  9:26.97E   Sunday 22nd June.   After 5 nights at anchor at Porto Palma, we travelled round the corner, still on the Island of Caprera, back to Cala Stagnali, a beautiful anchorage (see earlier blog) opposite La Maddelena town. We had it to ourselves all day but were joined by two other boats just before dusk.
We have remained on Caprera because it has some lovely walks along marked trails, which we explored on previous days from Porto Palma and wished to continue from Stagnali.

Sometimes the marked trail isn’t so obvious

Cala Porteze, a lovely bay we walked to - beautiful sand and reminiscent of some places in the Caribbean. We were thinking of bringing Red Skies round to this anchorage.

Cala Porteze at lunchtime - we decided our secluded anchorages were nicer!

Health & Safety Sardinian style. Believe it or not this was the entrance (or exit) to an ancient fortification on a marked trail - no barriers nor warning signs and a serious accident waiting to happen.

Today we decided to row our bikes ashore and cycle to La Maddelena town across the causeway about a 10 mile round trip. The first hurdle was that on checking the bikes we had a puncture - not one but it turned out to be two. This was somewhat galling as the bikes had been thoroughly checked and serviced before we left Spain. The problem with small wheeled fold-up Brompton bikes is that their tyres are infernally difficult to put back on their rims having made the repairs. Therefore, much time and perspiration was lost before we even set out. The next hurdle was the Force 4 headwind that we had to row into, with a dinghy laden with us, the bikes and the bike bags. Having landed ashore, the  relatively short uphill climb to get to the causeway was a piece of cake - just a little bit more difficult on the way back having had a late lunch and full bags having restocked at the supermarket.
