41:11.29N  09:27.11E  Thursday 19th June.  After 3 days in La Maddelena town, one of which was spent sheltering from the rain all day and two with strong winds and thunderstorms around us, we left on the 17th to return to the anchorage at Porto Palma. The marina gave us the opportunity to catch up on the washing, to re-charge the batteries and water tanks and to dispose of the rubbish. The authorities there are into recycling with many different containers and dire warnings for those not following the rules. However, the required bio-degradable bags could not be found except in industrial sizes and an inspection of the bins revealed that almost everyone ignored the instructions - see picture.

Instructions on recycling - no beer cans here evidently, despite the World Cup

Porto Palma on Caprera was chosen as it was the only anchorage to give all round shelter, except from the South, and the forecasts gave winds from most directions except the South and, importantly, the swell was forecast from the North.
We seem to be in the middle of some highly unsettled weather with cold fronts coming across, which is affecting quite a wide area. The result is further threats of thunderstorms and more strong winds. The Cala is home to a couple of residential sailing schools and today we had the spectacle of the dinghies coping with gusts of 25 knots, some better than others.
