Sunday 13th September – Messolonghi (Mesolóngion)

Last night we went to bed early and slept until around 3am.  As we turned over we heard music coming from the hotel across the bay and remembered that, last time we were here, Saturday night tended to be party night and the traditional Greek music started late evening and went on until about 4am.

We previously managed to sleep through it and so settled back in bed expecting it to end soon.  However, it simply got louder and went on until mid-morning.  This morning the whole marina was feeling a bit jaded and it tuned out that it had been a Greek wedding going on all night.

Of course, Sunday morning there were church bells and so there was no lying in bed.  Up and breakfasted, I spent the day working my way through some washing – the bedding and towels that were getting rather crispy and threatening to walk out on their own.

I finished off by washing the few clothes that we have used (not many as we’ve been in swimwear every day) and as I was getting the final load in from the line at around 7pm the heavens opened and we had a tremendous downpour.

Richard has worked his way through various maintenance and admin items on the boat, putting out the washing as I have finished each load and guarding the washing on the line each time the wind has built.

Tonight, as you never seem to just get rain around here, we are sitting with a thunderstorm going on spectacularly around us.
