Monday 17th August – Port Kastos, Nísos Kastos – Nisis Petalas

This morning the harbour almost totally cleared out and the village was peaceful again.

Barely functioning after last night (speaking for myself), we set off after a very late breakfast and were delighted to find that there was just enough wind to be able to sail and we sailed almost the whole way down to Nisis Petalas where we have anchored for the night.

Nisis Petalas is an island lying very close off the mainland coast with marshland forming a neck to the shore and there is good shelter tucked in behind it.  The anchorage is very picturesque and not a busy as Kastos.

There has been quite a strong wind blowing through this evening, 16-19 knots, which started just as we arrived.  The boat that came in next to us found itself dragging across the bay and had to re anchor.  As the sun went down and darkness has fallen, the wind has suddenly dropped as quickly as it started.

We have all opted for an early night.
