Thursday 23rd April – Bizerte, Tunisia (Electricity)

This morning Richard awoke early and stuck his head outside; the sky was grey and there were still waves breaking above the harbour wall -  we were going nowhere.  During the morning the wind started to gust again and early afternoon it was definitely blowing hard – the good news though was that the clouds had finally gone and the sun was out.

Late morning, some locals who have a boat up the pontoon decided to fix the electricity on the pontoon.  The repair seems to involve twisting wires together and wrapping the new connections in plastic bags so that when it rains the electricity doesn't blow – but it seems to be working ☺

So, we have electricity (for now).  This has made staying here until the winds improve a lot better prospect as we can use the heaters to keep ourselves warm at night.

This afternoon we went for a walk to the bus station to look at the timetables – unfortunately everything was in Arabic so we came away defeated, there wasn't even any information in French.  After a wander back through town picking up a few provisions we returned to Pyxis.

Late afternoon Richard and Otwin went off to try one of the local hamman baths.  They were a long time and Rosi and I wondered where they had got to over a glass of wine.  Eventually they returned having been scoured and pummelled to within an inch of their lives (or that's how Richard put it).  Definitely an experience by the sound of it.  Despite this Rosi and I have decided to try it on a women's day...
