Saturday 21st June – Ensenada de la Rápita, Mallorca – Porto Petro, Mallorca

Today we moved on.  We weighed anchor just after 09.30; it was another beautiful day and the sun was already beating down with hardly any breeze in the anchorage.

Once out of the anchorage the wind started to fill in and we were able to sail close hauled to Punta Salina on the southernmost tip of Mallorca in a F3 which built to a definite F4 as we approached the corner.

Once round the point we tacked up the coast to this lovely harbour of Porto Petro where we have picked up a mooring buoy for the night, just outside the harbour in Cala dels Mats.

The wind decreased as we approached Porto Petro and we motored just the last couple of miles (Richard was happy with this as it helped to recharge the batteries and allowed us to run the watermaker).

Once moored up Peter wanted to try out his new ‘wave-rider’, so Richard was ‘volunteered’ and towed around the bay behind Peter’s RIB, having great fun trying to stay on whilst Peter chicaned through the boats.

Later we took the dinghy ashore and had a short walk around the town; we liked it and it doesn’t seem to be really ‘touristy’ though it may be because the season hasn’t started yet.

We came back to Pyxis for dinner, having resisted the restaurants along the harbour front.
