Friday 6th June – Isla Perdiguera, Mar Menor

Good news on the mossie front last night and so I had the day off making nets today.

It had been very windy overnight but the island provided good shelter from the chop and by morning it had quietened down and the sun was hot.

Peter had suggested a BBQ on the beach on the island when we first arrived at Mar Menor and today was the day.

We had been saving our new Cobb BBQ for a ‘special occasion’ since we set off, waiting for when we found a quiet beach to anchor off and some fair weather;  it was time to christen it.

Late afternoon we set off for the beach armed with BBQ, chairs, umbrellas and food.  The afternoon breeze was quite strong but we managed to find a fairly sheltered spot on the beach to set up camp.

We had a beautiful BBQ on the beach with lots of food and drink and a great view across the Mar Menor; by the evening we were all alone on the island with just the seagulls for company and there was a spectacular sunset to wash it all down with at the end of the day.

As it got dark, we returned to the boats for some rest.
