Monday 14th January – Vilamoura

This morning we awoke to fabulous sunshine – yippee.

We had breakfast and then Richard put the bikes back together as they had been stowed for passage.  He then went off on his bike to the Marina Office in search of internet access whilst I washed up.

He came back having had mixed success - the Marina Office had run out of e-vouchers so no internet access but he had located the sail maker and priced up repairing the UV strip on our genoa, and had visited the chandlery and discovered that neither supply the blue thread he is looking for to repair the cockpit enclosure, but he did have a lead for a shop in Quarteira that might.

After a quick bite for lunch, Richard pottered off exploring again and I decided to bake bread.  We don’t have a bread maker so this is the manual job.  I have a book full of recipes, a present from my friend Claire, and I thought it best to start with one of the basic recipes and selected a Bloomer.  I really enjoyed it and although the oven is a bit difficult, it turned out fine – it even looked like a Bloomer that you would buy in the supermarket.

This evening we had a bean stew with freshly baked bread (Richard had pork with his as well).  Richard declared the bread delicious - it even looks and tastes like bread!  Looking forward to getting a bit more adventurous with some of the other recipes now.

This evening we finally got our wifi-internet access working from the boat so it looks like we’ll be able to get online again.
