A glorious hot and sunny day.  This morning I cleaned the deck and Richard went to get petrol for our the dinghy so that we could go on a trip to Alvor at lunchtime (2 miles down the coast).

As we left Lagos, the sea was flat calm and we raced along towards Alvor on the plane along with Moonshadow in their new rib boat.  We wondered why we were so far ahead of them with our small 4HP engine when they have 8HP so stopped to look.  They radioed us to say that their engine had gone bang (the gears had sheared) and was no longer working.  We took them in tow and headed back to Lagos and so went for coffee here instead of Alvor.

Peter is actually delighted as it means he can now buy the new larger engine he wanted!

This evening we went to a talk on weather forecasting being given by two of the other skippers in the marina as part of the ‘Navigators Net’.  We went down with Moonshadow and Wandering Dragon and it was a full house with most of the marina residents there.

After the talk Peter and Carola came back for a nightcap – it transpired they hadn’t had time for dinner so Carola arrived with a large pizza and so we had an impromptu pizza party.  Another late night !
