Friday 19th August – Néa Klima (Elios), Skópelos (Glossa, Loutraki)

This morning our neighbouring yacht left and was replaced this afternoon with another small motor boat, friends of the other motor boats around us – we now have two each side of us, so at least we don’t have to worry about masts clashing in the swell.

This meant we could finally stand down on anchor watch and late afternoon we took the bus over to Glossa, a picturesque town on the hill above Loutraki.  We looked around and then decided to walk down the hill to look at Loutraki.  The main road wound around down the hill so we ignored it and found a goat track down the hill, shorter but probably better in walking boots rather than sandals.  The track ended at a hotel and we could see the harbour further down the hill on the other side.  I went to reception and the guy said to go down the steps outside the hotel entrance.  We went down the steps, which went down and down through the hotel, along over a roof and then further down, eventually coming out by the harbour.

The bus was waiting on the other side of the harbour about to do its return run when we arrived so we hurried across and caught it back to Néa Klima.

This evening we went to the restaurant we were going to go to last night and had a really great traditional Greek meal – Skópelos cheese pie, stewed octopus, and stuffed cabbage leaves.
