Monday 9th May – Epidavros (Back on the hook)

This morning we had a walk round town and bought a few fresh provisions - fresh fish for me, meat for Richard, and some fresh vegetables.

We decided that the lure of the harbour wall was no longer enough, given that we couldn’t get water and electricity, so we opted to go back out to anchor and try a spot near the beach.  Another yacht who was just arriving saw what we were doing and came out to anchor too.

We spent the afternoon sunbathing in the cockpit, but the breeze was too cool to spend the time on deck, we needed the shelter of the sprayhood from the wind.

Early evening a fishing boat spread nets across most of our exit from the anchorage so we are pretty much trapped here – he did come to tell us and say that he would remove them at 6am – although we couldn’t say so, we were not very happy in case there is a problem with the weather over night and we need to leave.  He has left us an escape route but whether or not we would be able to find it in the dark is another thing.

The swell is still rolling in so we are bobbing around quite a bit; however, from its direction, the swell will also be affecting the harbour wall so we are probably not too much worse off at the moment.  The wind is due to go round to the north which should leave us sheltered from the wind and swell, but we’ll see…
