Wednesday 1st September – Messolonghi

Fortunately by this morning the fire on the hillside was out with just the occasional wisp of smoke.  The firefighters must have been working very hard over night.  The news reports that the fire started about 18.30 at Agrilia and that firefighters were drafted in from all over the region.  An investigation is now underway but it is believed the fire was caused by human hand.

Having practiced my splicing yesterday, this morning I started on the new mooring ropes and the first one is looking pretty good.  Just need to agree how long to make the lines now.

Richard has been going through the first aid kit checking the supplies, fortunately we have not needed most of it since leaving the UK but quite a lot is ready for replacement.

We had a cycle up to the supermarket to restock on food supplies around lunchtime.  We are pleased to report that the sales of the Christmas decorations which appeared a few days ago appear to be going well.

This afternoon the wind has got up again and been blowing steadily around F5.
