We left Cascais at about 0800 on a beautiful morning, warm, flat sea, no wind. It was perfect to be out despite no sailing. At 1000 a few dolphins visited us and by 1300 we were tucking into our picnic lunch of tuna mayonnaise, cured ham and salad, and even the lettuce didn't blow away. It was now about as calm and as near to a millpond as the Atlantic probably ever gets. Just occasional bouts of mild swell. Really fantastic. It's been very useful having a calm relaxing day to recharge my batteries.

During the morning Sean was busying himself getting some jobs done, seizing the shackles, fixing the rope locker lock and tensioning the guard rails. All very useful.

We arrived here in Sines about 1600 when the marina was fairly empty and we were lucky to be early as there was soon a rush of arrivals and it now looks quite full. Since it took an hour for us to check in we were glad we didn't arrive in the middle of the rush.

Lagos tomorrow, whish is an 80 mile trip with little wind forecast, so an early start.
