Title: Dreary Plymouth

50:22.132N 04:08.007W

We left a very pretty Dartmouth for a wet, windy and dreary Plymouth!  The wind was southerly 15 – 20kts so we enjoyed some nice sailing, although Start Point served up its usual short steep chop which made progress slow and uncomfortable. This brought back childhood memories for Alan of returning from the Channel Islands in the family Sadler 25, having been pushed too far east.

Leaving Dartmouth

We arrived in Plymouth just as the forecast rain and force 7 appeared and decided to moor in Sutton Harbour as it’s more sheltered than QAB.  We had a very friendly greeting from the marina staff, with someone to take our lines, but had a big shock when we saw the visitor rates.  Reeling from the £42.50 shock, we both immediately took a very long shower to make the most of the facilities, and we’ll be doing the same tomorrow morning!  (The showers are the poshest marina showers we’ve seen, beating even Berthon in Lymington).

We’re staying in Plymouth tomorrow for admin and chores, and to have the engine checked (Alan’s worried it’s producing a bit of black smoke, but he now thinks he just needs to clean the air filter).
