Title: La Coruna

Friday 18th & Saturday 19th September 2010

We left Cadeira yesterday morning for La Coruna which feels like a bit of a milestone on our journey before we move from northern to western Spain.

The swell in the river was massive so our anchorage must have been very sheltered.  This coast is famous for it’s large swell as the continental shelf is so close to land with the depth dropping to 4,000m only 25 miles off shore.  Once past the swell and out to sea we had a lovely sail with the wind behind us all the way to La Coruna.

La Coruna has a large marina right in the centre of town so last night we treated ourselves to a posh meal out which whilst very nice, it still didn’t really convince us about Spanish cuisine.  The city itself is lovely though and we sat overlooking the grand square.

This morning we explored the whole city before coming back to do more jobs including the washing!

It is now one year to the day since we bought Stella so we have some champagne in the fridge but might save it til tomorrow.
