A slow start to the day with light variable winds. Even some north westerly breeze for a while.  We think this is because we were in the wind shadow of Sao Antonio. Light trade winds reappeared towards lunchtime which prompted us to set our full downwind rig for the first time ever.  After an hour or two's endeavour by the full ships complement all was set and we were very pleased with the results.  Petronella seemed to run nicely at around 5 knots in 12 knots of wind, with a steadier motion making it even easier for Monty, or self steering, to keep us on track. With the slow start the days run was 95 Nm, but very pleasant and in the right direction.

For a late lunch we enjoyed some of Pascal's excellent smoked herrings.
