Cruising Again

It is lovely to be sailing again and of course something of a relief after the damage, repairs and trip home etc.
Susanna is with us until Saturday so we were keen to leave Ponta Delgada (lovely though it is) and get to the central Islands. The nearest of these, Terceira is about 100 miles from P DG, but our destination Pico 150.
We cleared out (4 offices to visit, 4 rubber stamps to collect, but all done swiftly and with charm) and were under way by 1115 yesterday morning. A gentle first sail is always welcome and with a WNW breeze we were mostly able to sail but had a bit of motoring when the wind left us. Fog was forecast but we did not lose the land until 15 miles offshore although during the night we had some fog and did not see Pico or the neighbouring St Jorge Islands until only a few miles off and then with layers of mist above and below.
A quiet night and we split the watches between us - Having Susanna to keep a watch (she used to share one with Emily) allowed us all to get a bit more sleep.
As I write, we are motoring again up the sound between the two islands towards our destination of Cais de Pico where it will be nice to be at anchor and get rid of the 'pontoon fever', although of course marinas are terribly convenient.
