Well, I am really on the way! I had two hitches to delay me a bit - the first was a fault in the fresh water system, potentially devastating. I realised that air was getting into the water (and conversely water getting out) and this proved to be a leak in the pump itself. I was unable to separate the pump from the accumulator bladder which maintains smooth flow to remove it. Fortunately a phone call to my friends at Mountbatten Boathouse had help on the way. They did not have the correct pump but fitted on which works, albeit at lower pressure and without the accumulator tank in circuit so I have a rather slow, jerky but reliable water flow.

The other problem was configuring the comms set up for email but this too is solved.

Yesterday as planned I had a shakedown sail to Falmouth, so that I could check everything was working. I realised the log book had only 8 pages left so in Falmouth I cough a new one and topped up the fuel.

I departed Falmouth at 1000. Tide against me but I did not want to waste the Easterly wind, so off I went, with, I have to say, a certain amount of trepidation!

However now, all is well. Approaching the Lizard I set my new code zero type reaching sail. It took some care but went up right, first time and wow! I have got about 8 knots apparent wind on the quarter, the sort of. Conditions where we would have wallowed around with plain sails but wow! I am whizzing along very comfortably at 6.75 knots. No drama, Pemandia is comfortable and taking it in her stride. So am I!!!

More soon!
