Saturday was the predicted motoring day. We chugged the 26 miles from our overnight anchorage at Mazagon, arriving at the bar across the Guadiana at a very appropriate high tide, a day or two before springs.

So we skipped across the bar, and gently made our way the couple of miles up the river to Ayamonte, anchoring in the early afternoon, off the entrance to the marina.

The old adage, “time and tide wait for no man” was our rule, as we planned our second assault on the river in the morning, to meet with Eddie and Clare Proctor. We need a low tide to pass under the road bridge....and planned to do that at 0900 Spanish time, in the morning.
