Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Thu 26 Jan 2017 10:58
We spent last night under spinnaker, tracking gently down the layline to our waypoint on the northern tip of Barbados, watching the mileage to go, slowly descend.

The night was beautifully clear and this time it was Nigel who opted to take the night watch and trim the spinnaker.

This morning, he is claiming to have seen 4 shooting stars while lying in the cockpit of Persephone, gazing skyward.  Also a new feature of the trip is the revelation that dolphins remain active at night, and seem to do all the things they do by day.  We were gliding along, in the pitch black when we seemed to be surrounded by snuffling noises. At first, we couldn't see anything, but then we realised that the little darts of luminescence in the water were being made by a nocturnal pod of visiting dolphins....still as uplifting by night as they are by day.

We have 437 miles to go.  Today looks like another light wind day, so will likely be slow, but the forecast is for moderate breezes tomorrow, increasing as we close in on our objective.

Breakfast tea awaits, so that's it for now.
