Persephone... Cruiser/Racer
Nigel & Karen Goodhew...
Tue 24 Jan 2017 20:12
The title of this says it all, really.  New GRIBs confirm that it's a bit better down south, so we have struck out on port gybe sailing off to the south west again, hunting for the reliably stronger breeze.  And what a sleigh ride we have had today.  Everything powered up, kite pulling at a VMG friendly 145 degree apparent angle.

And the rewards are plain to see. Steadily the wind has picked up from 10 knots this morning to 15/16 this evening.

Now we have the dilemma about keeping the kite going after dark.  Still to decide on that one.

Persephone has eaten up the miles today, averaging around 7 knots over the ground. 100 miles since 7 this morning...it's 20:00 now.

No more sea life, but a fair amount of floating seaweed....sort of mustardy yellow colour, floating in long lines and occasional rafts.

We've had the music on again, and even done a little hand steering, such is the mood on board.

The plan is to keep on south west overnight and gybe around a point 13N 50W...that's still 100 miles away, so mid morning to lunch time tomorrow.

All good here
