Never having done an overnight sail before, my Virgin Atlantic crossing has
been an epic voyage. There have been amazing things to see, endless
enjoyable hours of contemplation on night watches but also constant movement
with waves and wind. Two thousand miles of this has its ups and downs on
the mind as well as the body. Doing three hour watches at all times of the
day and night does interesting things to your body clock too; I wanted to
stop eating at one point but fortunately the food is far too good to refuse.
It has been interesting to see how we have all started to relax a bit as we
approach our destination … and thoughts turn to putting the beer/G&T back in
the fridge (Lou thinks of everything).
It’s hard to live life at an angle
It’s hard when your loo is too steep
It’s hard in your bed
When under your head
Is an ocean ten thousand foot deep
