Wednesday 30th July 2014. Wind SW F4 occasionally F5, Mainly sunny, 1.6 Engine hours, 65.4nm.

Wind, a fresh breeze perfectly on the nose. Amazing that the wind has 360 degrees to choose from and ends up exactly in the wrong place. We persevered with tacking though as you can see from the modest engine hours for our 12 hour day. The actual distance from our anchorage to Vänersborg was 38.5nm but we nearly travelled double that as you can see from the screenshot we took of the plotter. There were shallows to dodge and rocky islands throughout this southern part of the huge Lake Vänern.

To get to the marina we had to get both the main road and railway bridges lifted. Being evening time we didn’t have to wait more than a few minutes.

The black line is our track today.
