A sunny morning so we strolled to the nearby Co-op for breakfast and yet more food. We set off up the Muirtown Flight of 4 locks with the view improving as we went higher and higher above the Beauly Firth. Janice and Peter went ashore and walked up the side holding the lines so they could be secured in each lock without throwing them ashore. They couldn't pull Pelagia of course at 18 tonnes. We let Pete off so he could walk back to the car and head home. After 4 miles we decided to moor for the night as the rain had set in. We had to practice our Scrabble anyway so we had a chance of beating Sue - its not good for her to always win. As we were still so close to the city we decided to wait for Jonny and Sue here so they could have the Loch Ness section of the trip as well. Captain had done his homework and predicted the rain would stop at midday on Saturday and we could set off then.

First flight of many locks to come.
