Friday 29th August 2014. Wind from every aspect of South through East F4, clear skies during night passage only. 84.3nm completed in 19 hours. 5.1 engine hours (probably Sarah during the night keeping the speed up).

Returned to Pelagia after 11 days away, home for Mum’s 80th Birthday Party, good fun all round. Peterhead to Melin y Wig involves a bus to Aberdeen and then the train to Chester and then a lift which is a full day each way. On the way back north we got off the train at Leuchars and stayed with John & Ev overnight. They insisted on driving us to Peterhead the next day and so we had a comfy ride through the fog and rain back to the boat.

The dingy had also been away during our absence - out and back to Mackay Marine in Aberdeen by van for repair. All sorted and returned to the davits by the great services of MB Plant Hire with help from the fantastic marina manager.

On Thursday 28th we left the marina in thick fog at around 1700. Visibility was only 100-200m but the forecast was good. A cheery soul on a nearby boat shouted out to ask what on earth we were doing leaving. When we told him we were going to Inverness he shouted....Are you mad!

The fog was not nice but it cleared within the hour (as predicted) and we were rewarded with a brisk sail around Rattray Head and into the Moray Firth. Some dolphins arrived just after dawn to add to a good passage. Tucked up in the canal (again) by lunchtime.
