Chrissie arrived as planned on the 12.30 bus into the little one horse town of Norsholm. The bus stop was 300 metres from the boat! When she changed buses in Norrköping the driver asked her why she wanted to go to Norsholm as he had never taken a tourist there before. Her journey from Skavsta airport was a lot easier than her coach trip to London Stanstead. In Manchester on Friday night her coach did not turn up as it was parked further north on the motorway where the passengers insisted it stop as they were too hot on the bus due to faulty airco. Eventually another bus came but there were too many people so Chris and 3 others ended up in a taxi as far as Birmingham at National Express’s expense.

Virtually the whole distance travelled today was Lake Roxen. We looked out keenly for the 260 species of bird per our guide book. We saw 4 which was a poor show. The most common bird along the canal is the wagtail and there are hundreds of those.

We climbed the 7 lock ladder up from Lake Roxen in the late afternoon and had to stay in Berg marina which is more like a big pond between the 2 lock ladders on this stretch. We had to squeeze in bow too on a low pontoon. Happily we had friendly neighbours on a smaller boat with a good bow ladder so Sarah was able to use that to get on and off. Many of the marina’s have BBQ facilities so we used that in the evening sun right in front of the boat.

Chrissies first lock, she’ll look hotter in a few lock’s time.

Once the lines are secured, that person’s job is over
