Arrived. Saw Salvador in the haze at 0700, a long stretch of skyscrapers and
by 0930 we were tied up in the marina cheered along by all the other oysters
who had arrived earlier. Tired and relieved to have arrived safely we
celebrated our 25000 miles of sea travel and yet another continent with
glasses of bubbly shared with all the wonderful oyster friends we have made
over the last year. Salvador is one of the oldest cities in South America,
an early capital of Brazil with a fabulous atmospheric old centre.
Stephen on one of the other boats (Amelie) and I share a birthday, so a very
good excuse for a party in the old town tonight.
Photographs show the bedraggled that hitched a ride with us for a few nights
(You have to look carefully to see him in the dark background)
