On the way to Salvador....Day 4

We left Saint Helena and within 30 minutes we had the engine off and the
cruising chute up pointing due west. The wind was a perfect 15-18 knots and
the boat raced across the flat seas towards Salvador (Only 1994 miles away).
We've quickly got our sea legs and got back into the routine of passage
making. As we were unable to provision properly in Saint Helena this next
leg is going to be short on fresh foods so the time has come to delve into
the store cupboards under the seats and unveil a few of the tins we have
been carrying for months.
The sailing from Cape Town has been some of the most comfortable and
enjoyable we have done so far. The winds have been constant and the seas
very flat and calm. I think they call it Champagne sailing.
The weather is becoming noticeably warmer as we have headed further north
and west and the fleeces and jackets have once again been relegated to the
storage bins. The last 24 hours the wind has eased and we are now making
just slow but steady progress to Brazil. Before dinner we talked about the
plans for the sails overnight, and Andrew has decide to keep the chute up.
It's a bit risky, if the winds freshen or a problem develops it will be a
real challenge to get it down in the dark but we will be able to maintain a
reasonable speed. Fingers crossed
