We left Cavtat at 0900 yesterday morning in a North West wind to 30 knots, the offshore wind made for only a slight sea and we ripped along at 8 to 9 knots under a scrap of main sail, that lasted about 2 hours before dying off completely, leaving us in a motoring situation again. We motored through the day, saw three large pods of dolphins, all of whom came to play in the bow wave, much to our joy, we never tire of these fabulous creatures. After supper, as it got dark, up came the wind, we had a Westerly wind all night to 30 knots, this time the sea built quickly as we were by this time about thirty miles off the Albanian coast, we stood our 3 hour watches for what it was worth, we couldn't sleep in the extreme motion and often had to reduce sail which really needs two people, so here we are at 0900 on the 9th about 50 miles from Corfu, 10 miles off the Albanian coast, we should really be 12 miles off minimum, hope they don't shoot us! with about 8 hours to go, both tired out and to cap it all, the wind has gone Southerly, so its ' sur le nez' again!! Anybody want to buy a cheap boat?
