Drove back to Picton to catch the ferry at 7pm.  Still a bit misty.  Have I mentioned the lupines yet?  I feel sure I have.  Anyway, this part of the island seems to be covered in them wherever there is no grazing or cropping.  The whole landscape has a yellow blush to it.

This is Marlborough country so in the protected valleys it’s grape vines, vines and vines.  The rolling hills too steep for vine yards and turned to grazing.  Amazing all this would have been trees.

Blenheim is the wine capital of Marlborough region.  Don’t go it is a serious modern, unattractive town.  However, it does have a chocolate factory on the outside of town.  Just look at this cloud formation, featureless and smooth.  I’ll find out how that happens one day.

Had a few hours to kill in Picton so here’s some more photos. 180 from one of the look-outs.  Picton is on the LHS and Charlotte Sound on the RHS.

Our ferry, well it would be when it returned to pick us up.

180 of the timber yard between the mainland and nature reserve.  You can see the predator exclusion fence better in this picture.

And, well you can read it for yourself.
