Farewell to Bequia

Admiralty Bay, Bequia, SVG.

Our gentle sojourn in Bequia is coming to an end. Our various personal ailments are either greatly improved or cured - bashed knee and bad back OK and Chris's various joint ailments have improved enough for us to do some more energetic walking. More or less daily trips in the dinghy to Princess Margaret Beach, anchoring off, swimming ashore and marching up and down the long beach for 40 minutes.

Where is everyone .............. probably in church as it is Sunday morning.

No mammoth walks so far this year but on Easter Sunday we taxied with some friends to Friendship Bay where we had a magnificent breakfast while kids and adults were building massive and artistic sandcastles (part of the Regatta). The local boats start their race here as a standing start from the beach which is great fun to watch with much shouting and flapping of sails.

This is what we get .......... Easter Sunday racing.

On Tuesday after Easter the place emptied out and Bequia returned to something like normality. Friends went and more friends arrived and we have not lacked for drinking partners for sundowning rum punches at the Frangipani nor the occasional meal ashore - perhaps rather more than occasional!
So tomorrow we plan to slip the mooring and spend a few days in the Southern Grenadines before heading for Tyrrel Bay to see how the errant ferry is performing! Once again we will keep WELL out of its way! Quite a crowd is gathering there at the end of season prior to moving south to lay up in Grenada or Trinidad. No doubt lots more socialising and the skipper and possibly the mate will be trying to have a few AFDs (alcohol free days).

And this is what we are missing ............. Robert and Zachy in Newton Ferrers
Portia is taking the photo so could not be included.
