Cape May, at the mouth of the Delaware Bay, was a Victorian sea side resort & is still popular today. Some of the Victorian architecture remains & it is all low rise so it retains some charm (less in drizzle!). The anchorage was cramped & subject to strong tidal stream necessitating the anchor resetting every 6 hours. We were there for 4 days in unsettled weather & had one quite uncomfortable night, not being able to get ashore for 36 hours. However it all worked out & a one day weather window has enabled us to reach Atlantic City, famous in my mind for being tacky & gambling. We walked the boardwalk but were not tempted to part with our money, while strong Northerlies reasserted themselves for a couple of days. The anchorage looked so exposed that we're in a small marina with 4 other long distance cruising yachts & have much enjoyed their company. We hope to be on our way to Sandy Hook, NY on Monday so at least we get the weekend off - yippee!
